again...being first. hah hah! it's not as much fun as it seems...

i'm very thrifty when it comes to all of my cosplays, and i figured i'd impart a lil' of my learnings thus far:

you can find oodles of costumes or major pieces at thrift stores...but i don't recommend the Goodwill or Bethel, because they have a tendency to be a bit selective in what they put out and/or pricey...

if you're stuck-try the America's Thrift Store on lee hwy, right off the 153 exit..it may take you half an afternoon, but you will likely find something you need...i always find the most random, and ridiculous stuff in there. (i.e., i now have enough black velvet to make a grand ballgown, for under 20 bucks- i just purchased $2 and $3 velvet pieces and took out the seams.) also, the Northside Neighborhood House has a thriftstore located off of Cherokee blvd. the money goes to a great cause, too.

if you sew, or have to make something from scratch, don't overlook the WalMart $1 a yard bin. i've found everything from ivory bridal satin to burgundy cut velvet, to black patent pvc, to heavyweight cotton waverly-print upholstery fabric there. it's like a crazy goose hunt!
but, if you find something you like: a word of advice...buy the entire bolt. it won't be there when you go back and need a yard or two more.
also, don't over look the remnant piles at wallyworld or hobby lobby. you can find some cool stuff there.
and hobby lobby puts some of their upholstery and drapery fabric on deep clearance from time to time. it's another one of those "go and check" things...

good luck, and hope it helps!
